Welcome to Home Energy Assessors, where I offer 20 years of industry experience to help you through the process of upgrading your home’s efficiency.

My story is rooted in decades of hands-on experience, industry leadership, and a steadfast commitment to improving energy efficiency one home at a time. In 2006, I was stressed at my IT job and decided to insulate my little townhouse not far from Washington D.C. I was amazed when doing so cut my bills in half and pivoted to energy efficiency within a year, never looking back.

Experience

• Served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany and worked at the Smithsonian Natural History Dinosaur Prep Lab in Washington D.C., National Wildlife Federation and co-owned Hilltop Consultants of Bethesda.

• I quickly found I enjoyed energy efficiency, healthy homes, and sustainability.

  • Spent over four years running a solar and energy assessment company, leading a team of installers and another of energy assessors while collaborating with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to build what has become the national energy efficiency policy.

  • Held leadership roles—including serving as Regional Manager for Focus on Energy and running the Standard Rebate offering for ComEd in Illinois. I oversaw statewide residential and commercial energy efficiency programs, including the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program, managed relationships with Trade Ally/contractors, all the while ensuring program success across D.C., WI and Illinois. Additionally, I guided landlords through the Multifamily efficiency rebate program for several years.

Achievements & Industry Leadership

• Became the first BPI Gold Level Contractor in Virginia, and later, the second in Wisconsin.

• BPI Assessor and Proctor - training and certifying many of Wisconsin’s energy auditors and Trade Allies as well as teaching them how to use the software (Snugg Pro) that determines your rebate. Over the years, I’ve also received specialized training in thermal imaging, zone diagnostics, residential ventilation, healthy home awareness, and many other insulation related areas.

Through these efforts and experiences, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the unique energy challenges homeowners and businesses face in our state. There’s not much I haven’t seen at this point. I once estimated I’ve been in over 12,000 homes, and I did that calculation 4 years ago!
